Dear Eureka! families and interested homeschoolers,
Another school year…another season of Eureka! Homeschool Honor Society meetings. As the local chapter of the Eta Sigma Alpha National Homeschool Honor Society, we look forward to delving into more college prep topics this year.
Here are details about our first meeting–hope you can join us. Members will have RSVP priority until Oct 1, when we will open it up to nonmembers, space permitting. We are kindly asking nonmember families to contribute $5 per family per meeting ($20 max per year) to help with group expenses.
Our first meeting will give you “A Tour of a Typical College Application.” This guided tour involves quite a few “side trips.” We’ll talk about the application itself, personal statements, transcripts, test scores, teacher recommendations, and the parent’s role in preparing the school report and counselor letter. Of course, we will not have time for great depth on these topics, but you’ll get a bird’s eye view and we’ll try to address as many questions as possible.
Note: To avoid confusion, please be aware that on that same day, Oct 14, HEART Academy is hosting a 4-hour College Planning Workshop from 10 AM-2 PM for $30 per person/$50 per family. The workshop and the Eureka meeting are two separate events, so when you RSVP make sure you mention the Eureka meeting. If you are interested in attending the 4-hour workshop, please contact Denise for more info.
A Tour of a Typical College Application

Bring: Small refreshment item to share
$5 per family for non-Eureka members

The next meeting after Oct 14 will be Saturday, November 10. We will be hearing from Rachel Owens, a homeschool grad who graduated from UCLA–so be sure not to miss that meeting!
