Presented by Bernadette Ashby, veteran homeschool mom and HEART instructor
What if you could have your student’s college education paid for from the start?
Lately, I’ve been asked how I helped my daughter completely pay for her first year of private school (tuition over $40,000). So I thought it might be a good idea to share how I’ve found ways and scholarships to fund her education. As a family, we are committed to having our kids remain debt free by the time they graduate from college. Because we didn’t start early enough, we knew we had to be creative and put our heads down to work.
In the US alone, the student loan debt is over $1.2 trillion dollars. 70% of college students graduate with an average of $30,000 debt, which takes about 10-20 years to pay off. The good news is that there is approximately 32 billion dollars available in scholarships. In this workshop, I will be presenting ideas and tips on how to find money for school through scholarshipping and other venues. I will share exactly what I did to help my daughter cover her first year tuition at her school. Cost is per family and High School Students are welcome to attend. Topics will include:
Getting Started: the first steps, it’s never too early or young to get started (even in elementary school)
Where to Look: and search engines
Saving for College and other ideas: what and when to start saving, entrepreneurial ideas for kids
Getting Organized: launching the various projects to start, spreadsheets, forms to use
What is needed to apply: essays, resumes, academics, transcripts, recommendations, what about FAFSA?, grants
