FAQs for the First Day of Classes

  • Do you have a map that I can give my child?  It’s attached.  I recommend printing this and giving it to your child to use the first 2 weeks at least.
  • Do you have a schedule of all the classes?  If your child is new to HEART this year and you didn’t attend the Aug 26th meeting, you might want to come early and locate his classes with him.  A copy of the legend is attached.  Be sure to print this out for your child to help him navigate the first couple of weeks.
  • Did you make any changes to the schedule? There are several changes to the schedule, movements of classes.  Attached is the current schedule of classes.
  • What do my children need on the first day?  Books and binders that pertain to all the classes you will be taking; First week of homework in each class; Bottled water if staying the whole day; Packed Lunch if staying for lunch.
  • Can I give my September check the first day of classes?  Yes.  Unfortunately, you have a $10 late fee after the 1st of every month.  Please add that fee to the check.  Of course, this does not pertain to you if you gave Crissi the registration packet today.
  • I am new and missed the Back to School Orientation?  When do you have another one?  If you missed the August 26th meeting, please go to this video link and watch this with your children.  Pay special attention to the rule for students and financial information.  Oftentimes when parents and children don’t attend this orientation, there is a misunderstanding and both you and I are frustrated and the children get into trouble because they don’t know the rules.  This info is super-important.
  • Explain to me again about the finances at HEART?  Remember that you paid your first monthly installment (Of 9 installments) when you registered.  Your second installment was due September 1.  If you came to the August 26th meeting, then you gave your teachers that September check to them.  That leaves 7 more installments to pay and the October installment is due October 1.
  • My child wants to be a part of the free PULSE teams, who do I speak with?  Send me an email and let me know which team they want to join and I’ll get them in contact with the person in charge.
  • Do you still need some help setting up?  Yes, I would love your help on Thursday to help set up 4-6 pm at Foxworthy.  We’ll be creating signs and replenishing the teacher’s kits as well as setting up the rooms.  Email me if you can make it.

  • What is your policy about dropping classes?  We went through the info together when you registered on page 8 of your Review Sheet.  Notify the teacher by email and copy to Crissi Allen so she can notate your file. Pay for one more month and then you are done with the class.
  • We’d love to help and donate some things this year, what do you need?  Mini-kleenex tissues, black white board markers, wipes with flip-top lids, post its, paper clips, white board cleaner, 9 oz cups, heavy duty dinner plates, heavy duty bowls, heavy duty forks, 4 oz cups.  Just ask and we can tell you of more of our needs.
  • I hear it will be 84 degrees this Friday, what can I do to help?  Please bring a fan to share and don’t forget to pick it up and take it home.
  • I would like to request a change in my child’s schedule of classes, what do I do?  Send me an email and tell me which class you want to drop or add.  If you drop before September 1, that check is non-refundable and your financial obligation to that class is done.  Then, You will need to write another check for August and September plus material fee payable to the teacher you decide to move to.  Please see me for totals.
  • We’d love to attend the Outburst Performance Showcase Fundraiser, when is it?  I just sent out an email about it.  It will be 9/28 from 6:30-8:30 pm at Location TBA.  Cost is $5.00 per person.  If you want to perform, it’s $10 each person.  
  • What else do I need to turn in?  If you haven’t read your “Welcome to HEART Academy” email yet, this email lists all the items you need to get current.
  • What if there’s an emergency and I need to get a hold of my child?  Please keep my phone number on your phone.  Crissi 408-712-4646 or Monica, my Site Manager 650-773-0352.
  • I just want to drop my kid off, where do I do that?  You can drop them off in the front parking lot or first back parking lot.
  • Is gum ok to chew at HEART?  No.
  • My child is an 8th grader this year, should I be thinking about college already?  Yes, you will need to start this year by attending Denise Boiko’s College Planning Day on October 19, Saturday.
